I went on holiday to France with my mum, dad and sister once and stayed in a gîte on the outskirts of Normandy. It wasn’t particularly exciting, but I did get a PSG kit and my sister fell down the stairs after being startled by a cricket… I digress. Whilst on this holiday I saw these amazing little hand-painted cyclists being played with by French kids in a shop and I could never find where they were for sale. A few years later I did find them and even stocked them in the TRiCKETT shop, but like always, I wanted more.
Believe it or not, this country has a very proud history of making metal soldiers and toys and, unbelievably, there is still one manufacturer left that is casting military toys and painting them by hand. So we got in touch with them and asked how we could get some toy cyclists made and it turns out it is well hard to do. First, we needed to get in touch with a sculptor, Andy, who made the first ‘master’ and once approved by us it went to Jon, who then casts them in metal. After this, the team got to work and painted them by hand. To my knowledge, these are THE only UK-cast cyclist toys that have ever existed, so that’s good news. Just to prove that the sculpts are ours, they even have TRiCKETT in the base. They are much heavier and bigger than their French counterpart and feel much more satisfying in the hand… you will know what I mean when you get one
Each cyclist is painted by hand (I know we have said that before) and therefore every single one is unique, which makes them even more special, in my opinion. They even have eyes and a smile, I like to imagine them cycling around your front room when you are asleep. This one comes in the ‘Maglia Rosa’ colour which pays homage to the pink jersey worn by the leader of the Giro d’Italia and just so happens to be my favourite colour.
Each comes presented in a little box which makes for a wonderful gift or a present to yourself for being lovely. A proper piece of UK manufacturing history and needless dedication to seeing a project through when many, many people told me not do it!

All orders are packed by us in house and sent from our HQ here in Accrington. If you spend £75 or more then, postage is on us, because we like you. Next Working Day is Monday - Friday only. If your order is placed after 12PM on a Friday or over the weekend this will be dispatched on the next working day and due for the delivery the following working day after that.
Customers have 14 days from the day they receive their parcel to return it back to us. To be refundable, all products must be completely unworn and unwashed, and must be returned in their original condition. All international orders are final, no refunds, exchanges or credit notes.
