When the nights draw in and the fire’s on, there’s nothing quite like the smell of incense drifting through the house. In Germany, they worked that out a long time ago and came up with the Räuchermann (or “smoking man” if your German is a bit rusty).
These little wooden figures first appeared in the Ore Mountains around the early 1800s. Originally made to keep the smell of home-grown herbs and incense in the air during long, cold winters, they quickly became part of Christmas tradition. The pipe-smoking characters represented miners, woodsmen and everyday folk, a way of celebrating the community that made those mountain towns tick.
Fast-forward a couple of centuries and they’re still crafted in the same way, turned from wood, painted by hand, and designed to puff away on incense cones placed inside them. Our batch comes from the legendary Müller family workshop, who’ve been carving, sanding and painting these chaps in Seiffen for generations.
Our Räuchermann is a very typical Bavarian gent carrying 1 litre beers, wearing lederhosen and ready for a lovely evening. My favourite thing about these is the fluffy hair and feather in his cap… oh that that massive moustache. Each of the Räuchermann come with a tin of incense for you to enjoy which will be selected at random. Simply slip the top part from the bottom part, light your incense, blow it out, get a bit of a smoke going and then slide the two bits back together. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the power of the Räuchermann.
Don’t leave your Räuchermann unattended whilst he is burning, because sometimes you need to be a grown up!

All orders are packed by us in house and sent from our HQ here in Accrington. If you spend £75 or more then, postage is on us, because we like you. Next Working Day is Monday - Friday only. If your order is placed after 12PM on a Friday or over the weekend this will be dispatched on the next working day and due for the delivery the following working day after that.
Customers have 14 days from the day they receive their parcel to return it back to us. To be refundable, all products must be completely unworn and unwashed, and must be returned in their original condition. All international orders are final, no refunds, exchanges or credit notes.
