When you enter a former car repair garage in rainy north Manchester and a bloke who runs a fire place shop asks you to move your car or he will ‘pop your tyres’, you aren’t necessarily onto a flyer when visiting a supposed hat factory. However, after a bit of negotiation and a promise of looking at some media wall fires, we got to meet Bryn and Matthew who make some of the finest traditional wool caps in the world.
Our cap is the traditional ‘Baker Boy’ style with eight panels, peaked brim and fully lined inside, but what makes this one super-special is the shape. There’s enough height to give the hat some impact without looking like costume, with a beautiful row of fabric which reinforces the ribbon on the inside of the hat which gives the hat some more length and covers more of your head at the back to keep the cold out. This particular cap comes in a 100% wool Donegal-style yarn that is woven into a herringbone fabric in Yorkshire, it comes in three panels of navy and three of grey, to create something that, whilst a little unusual, is something that you will want to wear again and again. A proper British classic.
Because we are TRiCKETT and like things a bit fancy, the hats come lined in our custom cotton ‘fan’ lining, showing the good old days of cap wearers on the football terraces. The lining on each hat will be completely different from cap to cap making yours a true one of one. The hats are made in Lancashire by Bryn, Matthew and their team to the very highest of standards, with them even placing some wadding between the outer wool layer and the inner cotton layer to give greater insulation and to give the hat some body when worn on your head.
The sizes are based on head measurements, so get the tape out and have a measure. We recommend having 1cm of space to get your hat on. I have a huge head and find the XXL is a good fit with some room… fun for all the family.

Next Working Day is Monday - Friday only. If your order is placed after 12PM on a Friday or over the weekend this will be dispatched on the next working day and due for the delivery the following working day after that.
Customers have 14 days from the day they receive their parcel to return it back to us. To be refundable, all products must be completely unworn and unwashed, and must be returned in their original condition. All international orders are final, no refunds, exchanges or credit notes.
