Grimaldi Trousers

I had a load of army and fatigue-related puns lined up for these kecks, but they are so good that they probably deserve a semi-serious approach to informing you, a trouser-buying member of the public, about just what makes them so special. So without further ado, welcome to the Grimaldi.

I have always wanted a pair of fatigues that look like the original ‘jungle greens’, but feel a bit more like a modern-day pair of trousers and to be quite honest with you, I think we have managed it. We always start off with the fabric and this one is a little bit special. This is a beautiful brushed, mid-weight herringbone twill that will just improve with washing. I have had my samples for a while and they seem to get better and better, which is a textbook sign of a great pair of TRiCKETT trousers. The colour is as close to the original deadstock colour that we could find, but they wash down a treat and end up being a few shades lighter after about 10 washes.

At the front, there are two fatigue-style patch pockets that are big enough for phones, keys and whatever else you want to store in there to pretend to be a soldier. The trousers are loose through the thigh with a lovely tapered hem. If you have a pair of our Porto trousers, they fit in exactly the same way. At the back, there are two flapped patch pockets with a button fastening, again exactly like the originals had, because here at TRiCKETT we are all about keeping things as true to the originals as possible.

One thing that is slightly unique about a traditional fatigue trouser is the lack of side pockets (because I don’t like them) and the waist adjusters. They can take up to 2 inches off the waist if you need a closer fit or you can completely unbutton them should you need a little extra room when on manoeuvres or undertaking an eating challenge.

They are designed to fit on the shoe rather than be baggy like many cuts of these trousers are and to fit just below the natural waist so that you can cover up your backside when bending over to pick things up… no-one needs to see that soldier! There is a zip fly and top button to keep you nice and secure and belt loops should you decide that you want even more trouser-waist security.

So there we are, your new favourite trousers awaits you, in a colour that goes with everything and a cut that will say to people, ‘Yeah, I know these trousers are great, but I am not going to shout too loud about it… no-one likes a show-off’ or something like that.
