Wham! aren’t necessarily spoken about in menswear circles with the same respect as bands/artists like Oasis, David Bowie, Run DMC and others, but for me they were just as influential. Sparking a whole generation of fashionistas to start dressing like tennis players and exploring wonderful Italian brands like Fila, Sergio Tacchini, Diadora and more. As a result of this, football casual fashion would go on to spread like wildfire across the country and even the world, due to two lads from Bushey wanting to dress like a Swedish tennis great.
So with that said I wanted to pay homage to those wonderful late ’70s and early ’80s sportswear catalogues where you just got an over stylised image of what the product would look like rather than an image of the actual item that we do now. These same catalogues would even go on to influence the way that sports shops were decorated in that era, which is pretty special if you ask me.
It only made sense for them to be a light green top with a dark green print as a very firm nod to tennis. At the front is a TRiCKETT nod to the Sergio logo on the left chest and at the back a HUGE graphic inspired by ’80s Italian sportswear… to be fair I would want all of this collection! The tops are printed by hand in Huddersfield by the wonderful Jim and his team who are some of the most talented and patient people that I have ever met.
If you want to make the accountant even more annoyed you can mix and match these t-shirts with any on our website and get 3 for £90, if that doesn’t encourage you to throw all your other t-shirts into the charity donation pile then I don’t know what will.
