Say ‘Ahoj!’ to the Zmijovka, one of the great traditional hats of Europe.
First knitted up in Czechia, this little beauty was designed to keep farmers, workers and football fans warm through those icy Central European winters. Over time, it’s picked up a cult following, not just at home, but across the world. In fact, the Zmijovka has become surprisingly popular in parts of Africa, where it’s worn as much for style as for practicality.
Hats are a keen part of what we do here at TRiCKETT, so getting something that is truly original is nigh on impossible, that was until we stumbled across these that are still made in Czechia to this day. We’ve worked with Tonak, the original makers who’ve been producing them since the 17th century, to bring this piece of history to the TRiCKETT shop and I could not be happier.
This particular hat pays homage to Czechia’s greatest goalkeeper and one of the all time greats. It may well be in the colour of a certain team from London, but I like it because it goes with pretty much all outfits. We even made this hat out of a wool and viscose blend (you mentioned this in the survey so we made sure to listen!) so that even the most sensitive craniums can wear our lovely hats.
