Hefty T-Shirt
Vale Meão Tinto
AVAILABLE IN
For some reason, and I don’t fully understand why, I have dedicated a big chunk of my personal and working life to finding, researching, designing and making heavy t-shirts. It started with me and my dad not liking football shirts with a ‘gapey’ neck, continued with wondering where Dr. Dre got his t-shirts from, to now getting to our fourth of what I think is the perfect t-shirt. So here we are in 2025 with an updated version of what I think might be our best yet… but I would say that.
So, as always, we start with the fabric. This has been especially made for TRiCKETT in collaboration with Filipe and the sewing team in Portugal, the fabric manufacturer on the outskirts of Porto, the cotton supplier in Kenya and us… in Accy. The fabric is a beautifully soft, heavyweight and textured jersey that just seems to get better and better with each wear and wash. There is an up-close image for you to see just how special this fabric is… but my advice is just to get one in your wardrobe. Anabela has some how even managed to make the fabric even heavier for this edition with the fabric coming in at an unbelievable 370gsm.
The fit of the t-shirt is absolutely standard, because the fabric is so thick you may want to consider going up a size to make things a drape a little nicer and give a slightly more modern fit, but that is entirely up to you. For reference, Luca is wearing a large and a medium so you can judge for yourself. The neck is high, the sleeves are slightly wider and the shoulders have a little extra wiggle room for when you are needing the stretch to accommodate that extra slice of cake.
The Vale Meão Tinto colour is inspired by the greatest wine in Portugal (therefore the world according to Filipe, who says the 2023 release was good one). It is a medium claret mixed with lighter reds to create this super unique colour that I have never seen before on a t-shirt. It also happens to almost match perfectly the 1972 Burnley home shirt that Uncle John’s mate Picker wore to the matches every week… Portuguese wine or Picker’s shirt, whatever works for you.
So let me get this straight, a custom fabric, labels that calm you down, a great fit, wonderful packaging and they are only £36? Yes, that is correct and if you want to make the accountant even more annoyed you can mix and match these t-shirts with any on our website and get 3 for £90, if that doesn’t encourage you to throw all your other t-shirts into the charity donation pile then I don’t know what will.
100% cotton.
