Cotton Handknit Jumper
Summer Sky

Made in The United Kingdom

AVAILABLE IN

This is the heaviest jumper that I have ever made. Could I end it there? I most certainly could, but I am not going to do that as I think it deserves more than that, but be aware that this is comfortably the heaviest item of clothing that we have ever made. So now that is out of the way, let’s get on with the description.

I love hand knit jumpers and it seems like there are less knitters than ever who are able to make jumpers to a high standard using traditional skills. Anyway, we got in touch with one of the last remaining commercial hand-knitting companies in the UK and told them that I wanted a cotton jumper that was really heavy, detailed and could be worn in summer. I expected a ‘No!’ but the lovely Shannon, just said ‘Let me crack on’ and they did just that. Our jumper follows a traditional Arran knit that was famous worn by Steve McQueen. It is detailed and looks the part without being a bit too fancy.

Seeing as the jumper is made from cotton, we decided that it would be a good idea to get the cotton spun and dyed right here in lovely Lancashire, Blackburn to be specific. They yarn used for the jumpers is technically classed as denim and as a result it will fade and move with you the more you wear it, like a lovely pair of jeans. Good eh?

The jumper is knitted in a way that means it is very loose, so when you put the jumper on the for the first time, the neck will stretch a bit, but it will relax back into position after a short time wearing it, so don’t panic. The jumpers are super thick, so if you prefer a bit more wiggle room, I do recommend going a size up from your normal TRiCKETT size, but if not, just go for your normal size. The rib on the cuffs and hem is absolutely beautiful and is one of the reasons that you will fall in love with this as soon as it get it on your back. Each jumper comes with some spare yarn just in case you nick it on something and need to repair it, or you like the colour so much you want to paint the front of your house in that colour and Dulux will need a colour swatch.

This is the kind of jumper that you will leave in your will for your relatives to fight over and can be worn through all seasons. Making stuff like this brings me for more joy than it probably should do and displays what we are still very good at in this country. So stop messing about, get yourself the last cotton jumper you’ll ever own.

100% cotton.
