As a kid I was always fascinated with the tiles that many people had in their entrances to their houses. It seemed that the older house was, the more intricate the pattern was in the tiles. This lead me to a pretty weird fascination with tiles in terraced house across the north west of England.
Anyways, these particular patterned socks are inspired by encaustic tiles which is one of the more common tiled patterns from around the turn of the 20th century. Many towns and cities had whole teams of people dedicated to the art of laying encaustic tiles and would often change the pattern from one block of terraced houses to another one. That’s your history lesson over.
These socks have been made for us in Italy by Marina and her family. They are inspired by the very tiles that are in my porch and come in brown, cream and orange hues. They are patterned socks, but not like novelty ones, because no-one wants that!
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, you can mix and match 3 pairs for just £22, so that way you can stock up and improve your sock drawer 10 fold! No codes, the website will do it for you. So go on, get involved!
