Superstition is an integral part of Neapolitan culture and there are many symbols and icons to keep bad luck and the evil eye away from you. When you wander the streets of the city and talk to people, you notice that they will either have a cornicello (the red horn-like charm) or san Gennaro (the patron saint of Naples) tattooed on them, a mano (the fist with two pointed fingers) hanging from the handle on their scooter, or a bracelet with their lucky number (numbers have a very special meaning in Napoli) on it. If you want learn more about the superstitions of Napoli we have made a little video below all about it.
I’ve enjoyed learning more about the charms which people wear around their necks. These charms have been seen in Napoli and around the world via TV and film in various guises and after years of you lot asking, we have managed to secure some in silver. Each of the charms are made in Italy using the finest materials and are of a genuine heirloom quality. I have only ever seen these charms manufactured to such a high quality in the city of Napoli and I thought for the first edition of the silver necklaces you needed the famous football team’s logo!
Superstition dictates that you can’t buy one of these necklaces for yourself and that for the good luck to work, it must be given as a gift, but if you don’t do that, we won’t tell anyone. Each chain and set of charms is inspected by our good friend and Neapolitan jewellery expert, Iris. Iris ensures that the quality of the items is consistent and aligns with the high standards we set at TRiCKETT. Each item is presented in a lovely gift box (these will vary) to make sure you have somewhere nice to keep it when you’re not wearing your chain… not that you will ever want to take it off.
These are pieces to treasure which will hopefully be with you forever. We couldn’t be happier to offer them to you and keep the evil spirits and bad luck away, whilst also looking super ace.
