Ivy Shirt – Milestones Green

Ivy Shirt – Milestones Green

You’ve been searching all over the place looking for the perfect shirt and, after all that, they were hiding right here in lovely Accrington.

For years it seems that people have been releasing shirts inspired by the ‘glory’ years of ivy-style dressing, but never fully ticking all the boxes required to make a shirt that I would want to wear on my back, so in true TRiCKETT style… we made our own. The first thing to mention about our shirt is that it is made from a loose-weave cotton which feels like the perfect mix between cotton and linen, but it is most definitely cotton. With us wanting to create such an iconic colour we had to garment dye each shirt, which gives the shirt a beautiful, worn-in feel to it. It almost feels like Miles himself has given this to you off his back! Many have tried and failed to perfect this colour, but due to a chance e-meeting with the current owner of the original shirt, we are happy to say that this is the exact colour worn on the cover.

As if that wasn’t enough we have thrown all the ivy details that you could ever want at this shirt to make it even better. Let’s start with the collar. Ours comes completely unlined and free of any fusings or stiffeners in order for the shirts to feel more relaxed and for us to develop that wonderful collar roll. The collar points are 3.5″ as per the request of every Ivy leaguer in the world and obviously they come with a button down collar and a button at the back of the collar because it looks nice and keeps your tie in place, should you wish to wear one.

The buttons throughout the shirt are made from mother of pearl, not those cheap polyester buttons which most makers use nowadays. There is also a chest pocket on the front as per the original worn by Miles. To the back of the shirt there is a centre box pleat to give you a little more room across the shoulders for when you are playing your trumpet and a hanging loop as per the original shirts made back in the day. There is a curved hem, French seams throughout, single-button barrel cuffs and a button on the sleeve placket to stop your sleeve from flapping about when finishing off your enthusiastic trumpet solo. On every shirt there is a ‘TRiCKETT Trumpet’ woven label on the inside bottom of the shirt placket, many shirts used to place their branding there, so we thought we should pay homage to the greats who came before us.

The arm holes are a little higher for added movement and for a bit more of a contemporary look. The shirt itself is cut for a little extra movement, but by no means is it oversized or sloppy, take your normal size for a relaxed, louche look. All of our shirts are made expertly in Portugal by Antonio and his team. The shirts have been manufactured so that they will be a long-term companion.

Made in Portugal.
