You’ve been searching all over the place looking for the perfect shirt and, after all that, they were hiding right here in lovely Accrington.

For years it seems that people have been releasing shirts inspired by the ‘glory’ years of ivy-style dressing, but never fully ticking all the boxes required to make a shirt that I would want to wear on my back, so in true TRiCKETT style… we made our own. This shirt is made from a custom-woven seersucker cloth which is made to our exact specification. Perfectly lightweight for warmer temperatures and ideal for adding a little formality to any outfit. If you are unaware of the history of seersucker, here is a nice bit of info.

The name comes from the Persian shīr o shakar, meaning “milk and sugar,” a nod to its unique texture, smooth in some areas, puckered in others. The secret? Those looser-woven stripes, which allow air to circulate freely around the torso, making seersucker a warm-weather essential. First introduced to Britain through colonial trade, seersucker became a go-to for those needing to keep cool in sweltering conditions. It wasn’t long before it made its way into tailoring, workwear, and even military uniforms. By the early 20th century, seersucker was a favourite among the well-dressed, particularly in the US Ivy League scene, where it became synonymous with effortless summer style.

As if that wasn’t enough, we have thrown all the Ivy details that you could ever want at this shirt to make it even better. Let’s start with the collar. Ours comes completely unlined and free of any fusings or stiffeners in order for the shirts to feel more relaxed and for us to develop that wonderful collar roll. The collar points are 3.5″ as per the request of every Ivy- Leaguer in the world and obviously they come with a button-down collar and a button at the back of the collar because it looks nice and keeps your tie in place, should you wish to wear one.

The buttons throughout the shirt are made from mother of pearl, not those cheap polyester buttons which most makers use nowadays. There is a chest pocket on the front of the shirt and on the back there is a centre box pleat to give you a little more room across the shoulders. There is also a hanging loop as per the original shirts made back in the day. There is a curved hem, French seams throughout, single-button barrel cuffs and a button on the sleeve placket. On every shirt there is a ‘TRiCKETT Trumpet’ woven label on the inside bottom of the shirt placket, many shirts used to place their branding there, so we thought we should pay homage to the greats who came before us.

The arm holes are a little higher for added movement and for a bit more of a contemporary look. The shirt itself is cut for a little extra movement, but by no means is it oversized or sloppy, take your normal size for a relaxed, look. All of our shirts are made expertly in Portugal by Antonio and his team. The shirts have been manufactured so that they will be a long-term companion.
