I have no problem in admitting that I have been lusting after these shoes for about three years. Ever since I read about Sophie and her business partner taking over the reins at the old farming shoe manufacturer, I wanted to get in touch and let them know how much I wanted their shoes for the shop. So here they are, the best French shoes that you probably have never heard of and you are going to feel really silly for not knowing about them after reading this description!

Since the 1950s, Chaussure De Gatine has earned the trust of farmers and cattle dealers, celebrated for producing long-lasting work shoes that withstand the rigours of daily work. In 1982, seeking to diversify their offerings, Charles Gatine and his son Bernard introduced the Megève, a practical, durable, low shoe designed for versatility. Inspired by the Tyrolean derby, the Megève features a distinctive apron with a bead joint, enhancing its waterproof qualities and ensuring resilience against the elements. There are also two rows of stitching attaching the sole to the shoe which means that the shoe can be fully repaired and makes sure your trotters stay dry. The shoes come in a true to size fit, if you are UK 10, take a 44. The construction of the shoe means it can accommodate any width of foot and they look just as good with jeans as they do with a suit. These shoes are made to the exact same standard as those VERY expensive French shoes and have the added bonus of having a slightly lighter sole which makes them easier to wear day-to-day and break in super quick.
