Fosse Workpants – Pendle Green

Here at TRiCKETT, we like our trousers to work hard. We like them to look good, be hard-wearing, manufactured in the UK and not look like those weird kecks with loads of pockets all over them that tradies wear. So we got our thinking caps on and came up with the Fosse trousers which are a perfect mix of all the things that we look for in the perfect pair of pants.

We wanted the perfect mix between a pair of good work trousers, a great pair of jeans and a semi-formal chino and that is just what we have achieved with these. As with all things clothing-based, we started with the fabric. This is a 3-ply luxury cotton twill that was found when tidying up a warehouse at one of our suppliers. Steve, the factory owner, said that he knew just the person to contact when he found this and we were super happy that he did. Rugged, soft and it feels really expensive, which is a nice bonus… we know you’ll go, “Ooh that’s nice” when you get them.

Whilst researching workpants from America we came across this ‘3-point swing’ system which railroad workers in the USA used to have in their trousers. This system has two anchor points at the lower hip and one at the crotch that is designed to keep your hips in place when you’re swinging a sledge hammer or axe and it helps to keep your back in place for maximum power when striking things. At first, it does feel a little unusual and trimmer than usual trousers, but after wearing them a few times you will definitely get used to it and even like it.

As a result of this ‘3-point swing’ system you have slash pockets that not only look good, they actually shape to your body and cause the pockets to ‘open’ so that it is easier to get your hand into your pocket. There is no need to wriggle around to get the perfect angle to get stuff out of your pockets like in jeans, these beauties just shape to your body, which only makes them even better. Don’t worry, the pocket bags are nice and big so things won’t be falling out!

The trousers are constructed using a triple- needle run and fell machine on the outside and inside leg for extra durability and because it looks good too. Everywhere else there is chain stitching, again for ruggedness and to make sure that these pants last you as long as possible.

These kecks are made in Leicester by Bob and his amazing team and on the inside pocket of the jeans there is a first initial of every person that worked on these trousers. It is easy to forget that real people have worked hard to produce the items you click on and look at on the Internet, but rest assured, these trousers are made by the very best to the very highest of standards.

Some more things that you may want to know in a quick fire round are… there is a 4-button fly with custom TRiCKETT buttons, lined back pockets, chain-stitched hem, triple stitched decoration on the back pockets, custom artwork for the back pocket ticket and sewn-in belt loops.  We would describe the fit as ‘straight’ with enough space to get boots or trainers on with them, depending on what type of work you do. As we have said at the top, these trousers may feel a little ‘snug’ at first, but give them time and they will shape to you and your body.

The trousers come in our standard (31″) and long (33″) inseams and are available in waist sizes 30-38″. We recommend taking your normal size to take full advantage of the “3-point swing” system, but if you prefer your trousers a little looser, go up a size. These trousers may take a little bit of time to wear in, but bear with them and they will fast become your favourite pair of trousers.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Please don’t spin dry or tumble dry your Fosse workpants. A normal 30 degree cycle plus drip drying is more than enough to ensure long life.
