We’ve been stocking gloves here at TRiCKETT pretty much since day one. There is nothing quite like slipping your hands into a cosy pair of gloves whilst watching the football, waiting for the train or getting that last pot of Ben and Jerry’s out of the supermarket freezer. Seeing as we take gloves very seriously, it seemed only right to go to a place where royalty have had their hand coverings made for centuries. Luckily for us, that is the Rione Sanità district of Napoli.
Our gloves are made by Marco in his workshop, right slap bang in the centre of Sanità. I visited him this summer and found that the racks inside his place of work hold some of the finest leathers on the planet. Marco personally selects each individual hide to ensure that the quality and texture of the leather meets his exacting requirements. There is a lovely video below of Marco in his factory working on our gloves too, the very first in our ‘Meet your maker’ series.
This particular pair of buttery-soft leather gloves are in the shade ‘Accy Sunshine’ which is more of a dark yellow/ochre. It is inspired by the work gloves that American engineers and lumberjacks still wear to this day.
The gloves are lined in cashmere because you may as well have the very best that money can buy. The wrist is elasticated for a custom fit. The gloves are part hand-stitched and part machine- stitched, meaning that you get the best of both worlds in your lovely gloves. The thumb is made from its own panel to ensure that it can stand up to the most rigorous of beatings and also that your gloves don’t rip.
These gloves come in traditional glove sizings and you can click here to little video on how to measure your hands so you can get the perfect size for your hands. I am told that they should fit a touch tight when they are new as you will want them to shape to your hands. I am an 8.5″, wear an 8.5″ and if you’ll pardon the pun, they fit like a glove.
So go on, keep the cold away with some gloves from Marco.
