The original brief for the sunglasses was for them to be something an East London gangster, escaping justice to the Costa del Sol, would wear in the 1970s. Usually when we meet suppliers and make requests like this we get a weird, raised eyebrow and that ends that. However our new friend Ben, who hand makes each and every pair of our frames, knew exactly what we meant… we won’t ask how.
The glasses are made from a vintage, camouflage tortoise shell acetate that Ben then makes into the shape of our glasses. As you have probably guessed by now we have very specific interests here at TRiCKETT and one of those interests is hinges. Specifically glasses hinges. These hinges are so tough you could probably hang a door off them. They are also drilled through the acetate by the eyebrow and temple for extra ruggedness… no glues around here.
Each is then finished with the TRiCKETT word mark and the ‘handmade in England’ embossing, because… well… they’re handmade in England. Every pair is made to order and manufactured by Ben in his workshop and come with a leather case that is hand made (again) by our mate Matt. These glasses are designed to last a lifetime and even come with a lifetime guarantee. They will even come wrapped in a vintage Cuban cigar box, just to make you feel even more like someone trying to run away from justice.
They aren’t cheap and you know that we wouldn’t charge loads for something that we didn’t truly believe in, but the Capo sunglasses are about as good as it gets for us.
Please allow 6 weeks from point of order for the manufacture of these sunglasses. There is just one Ben and he makes them individually, they are worth the wait!
The measurements are on the final image.
