Following on in our ‘People of TRiCKETT’ series we thought that we should introduce you to one of our all time heroes. I grew up in the days of when Sky Sports first got it’s grips on rugby league and for some reason the game that so many associate with Northern England, and I was exposed to every day, seemed exotic. The great titles and theme music made something that was about as far away from Hollywood as possible seem… well… glamorous.
I still uphold to this day that the players in the game are the fittest (not in that way you cheeky monkey) and strongest in any sport. Highly-tuned athletic machines, without the pretense of the opposite code and the over publicized nature of football.
So with all that said, let me introduce you to Leeds Rhinos captain and Asthma UK spokesperson (he is genuinely) Kevin Sinfield. Like I have previously said about Shaq, if you want to look at his stats you are more than welcome to do so, but we are inspired by him for several other reasons.
Anyone that can kick and play the rugby ball as well and as consistently as Sinfield rarely comes about. He is a genuine hero in the respect that he has played his entire professional career at one club and captained the side that won 3 Super Leagues in a row. His Leeds Rhinos also hold the current title too along with World Champions and he still claims he has 3 seasons left in him.
We here at TRiCKETT also like the weird bicep protection that he wears for what appears to be no apparent reason and the fact he has pretty much had the same haircut for his career. Although I believe his hair is red at the moment for Sports Relief, so maybe I spoke too soon.
Mr. Sinfield take a bow.
