Isle of Men

So it turns out as a nation of, now, cycling enthusiasts we are are hugely disappointed that Cav didn’t win a gold medal. For the first time ever when walking around Blackburn I heard two severely ill-informed, nouveaux two wheeled fans talking about how Mark Cavendish is rubbish at getting up hills.

They probably didn’t know he is the current world champion and that British cycling is in about as good a shape as it has ever been, Chris Boardman era excluded.

So rather than be upset that we have ‘lost’ a gold medal, rejoice in the fact that we were even in with an shout and that two maybe even three of the best cyclists are from these shores. If you are from East Lancashire make sure to go and the Clitheroe area where Bradley Wiggins trains and see if those sideburns actually do make him go faster… Or not.
